This broad umbrella term, similar to nonbinary, encompasses anyone who feels they aren't just male or just female - this includes both, neither, an identity that fluctuates, or even when the individual isn't sure how to describe their gender at all.
The genderqueer flag was created by Marilyn Roxie in 2010. The colors of the three horizontal stripes on this flag represent the following:
Lavender ~ androgyny (as it is a combination of the gender-associated colors pink and blue)
White ~ genderlessness
Dark chartreuse green ~ identities defined outside of and without reference to the gender binary
